The company singers of One Ounce Opera made an impressive debut earlier this year at Leslie Fest, and are set to officially introduce Austin to their musical stylings this Thursday at Red 7, a venue not exactly known for its opera-centricity. And that’s exactly why it fits OOO’s mission.
The group’s organizer, Julie Fiore, says the aim of OOO is to expose people who normally wouldn’t listen to opera to the genre through the use of non-traditional venues and programming. And opera isn’t the only thing on Thursday evening’s menu: You’ll also find free snacks, beer specials, a silent auction and vaudevillian-style entertainment.
